The Human Element Project is an interactive, creative initiative to develop thought provoking public art installations that make powerful social statements about the connection between art, science and the human experience. Our goal is to create an ongoing dialog dedicated to exploring current social issues; the refugee crisis, discrimination, bullying, homelessness, violence, crimes against humanity and genocide. Over the past four years, we have documented and exhibited the stories of over 500 Holocaust survivors, victims of the Guatemalan genocide, Syrian refugees and local youth that have been faced with discrimination, bullying and violence. Through these workshops and resulting exhibitions, we have been able to expose thousands of people to powerful visual and written stories that have invited interest, engagement and educational opportunities on these sensitive topics.
